What Channels is for

Channels is the place to follow creators over time instead of treating every video like a one-off download. You can browse a channel, select a few videos manually, or follow the channel so Youwee keeps checking it for new uploads later.

This is the right feature when you regularly archive the same creators, podcasts, lecture series, or recurring uploads from YouTube, Bilibili, or Youku.

Browse once or follow long term

Start by pasting a channel URL and fetching the video list. From there you have two different workflows:

  • Browse once: select the videos you want right now and download them.
  • Follow: save the channel so Youwee can keep checking it later and optionally auto-download new uploads.

If you only need a few items from a creator, browsing is enough. If you keep coming back to the same creator, following is the better path.

Set your defaults before following

Before you hit Follow, decide the basic download behavior you want to reuse for that channel: video or audio mode, quality, format, codec, and output folder.

This matters more here than on one-off downloads because those settings can become the default behavior for future channel checks.

Quality note

If you plan to follow channels in 2K, 4K, or Best quality, it is safer to keep the video codec on Auto. That gives Youwee the best chance of picking the correct high-resolution stream instead of forcing a codec that the upload does not provide.

Channel rules and filters

Once a channel is followed, you can open its settings and control how often Youwee checks for new uploads, whether new videos should auto-download, and which videos should be ignored.

The most useful filters are:

  • minimum and maximum duration
  • include keywords and exclude keywords
  • maximum videos per check
  • download threads for that channel

These controls are what make Channels useful for long-running archiving. They let you avoid downloading every upload blindly.
